Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to the 1st National Alliance of Craftsmen Associations banquet. Tonight we not only celebrate our friends, our association members and our accomplishments, we also honor the memory of Willie Velasquez, a great American, who passed away June 15th 1988. We celebrate his life-long commitment to “We the People…” Willie understood the power of the vote. He understood that through the vote, through quality representation, an empowered community would be realized. And that would inevitably lead to better jobs, education and housing.
This year’s banquet theme, “Building Futures from the Ground Up,” continues the incredible journey that begins with “We the People”.
NACA represents local craftsmen associations throughout the Southwestern United States. Those local craftsmen organizations form partnerships with entities and stakeholders in their communities in order to work toward economic growth and self-sufficiency. They develop and implement economic strategies that provide quality education, employment and economic opportunities that are inclusive of the entire community.
For those of you who have supported us in the past, we thank you. You believe as we do that, given equal opportunities, communities will thrive. For those of you who are new to the NACA family, I hope this evening provides the spark for you to join us in our work. We want to share our accomplishments with you, and our hope is that by this evening’s end you will also share our excitement and our optimism for the future.
